Athena Strategies’ President Kathy Boockvar was honored to participate in the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) 50th Annual Training Conference, on a Committee for Safe and Secure Elections (CSSE) panel titled “Election Security in an Era of Disruption: What Law Enforcement Need to Know to Protect Elections and Public Trust.”
Joining Boockvar on the panel were experts Dr. Tracie L. Keesee, Harold J. Love, M.A., LPC (Ret. Captain, MSP), and Aaron Hayman, focusing on the critical intersection of public safety and election security. The discussion highlighted some of the threats facing our election officials and infrastructure today, and resources for law enforcement and election officials to help mitigate and protect against these threats.
The panel highlighted practical tools such as CSSE’s Law Enforcement Quick Reference Guides. These guides equip officers with state-specific election and penal laws for use by law enforcement, election officials, and their partners, and support preparedness before, during, and after Election Day.
The panelists also referenced CSSE’s security assessment checklists and other resources to mitigate security challenges such as challenging content creators, swatting, and bomb threats. Participants also shared examples of the benefits of the cross-sector partnerships, and how different jurisdictions have built effective collaborations between election officials, law enforcement, emergency response, and other key partners.
