Voting Rights Lab – Upholding the Will of the People: Understanding Election Certification
This Voting Rights Lab resource explains scenarios surrounding several attempts over the last few years to delay or refuse to certify the results of an election, and why these attempts have all failed. In general, they have failed because state election laws are clear that certification is a mandatory, ministerial act that must occur once the layers of election security, integrity, and audits are completed that are conducted as a matter of course to confirm the validity of election results.
