Thank you to Police1 for highlighting that The Committee for Safe and Secure Elections (CSSE) has updated their state-by-state quick reference guides to help law enforcement and election officials protect the safety of voters, election workers, and voting operations. “Election officials and law enforcement officers across the country will head into upcoming elections with updated tools to help keep polling places safe.”
CSSE first developed these guides in 2022 to help address the increasing threats and intimidation against election officials. They were inspired by CSSE’s Chair Emeritus, Neal Kelley, who had recognized the need for these resources based on his prior experience as a police officer and as an election official. Since then, the guides have been expanded to every state and incorporate new statutes and amendments, ensuring officers have the most current and accurate information.
Kathy Boockvar, a founding member of CSSE, led the effort to update the reference guides and enlist feedback from state and local officials.
“These reference guides are a key resource for safeguarding our elections,” said Boockvar. “By making the guides easily accessible to law enforcement and election officials alike, tailored to the specific laws applicable in each state, CSSE is helping officials ensure that election operations are conducted safely and securely.”
