Kathy Boockvar made a recent appearance on Ballotpedia’s On the Ballot podcast to explore how election security and administration works in the United States, as well as the pernicious divisiveness facing the American people. Boockvar was joined by Kim Wyman, former Washington Secretary of State and co-member of the Committee for Safe and Secure Elections.

Boockvar and Wyman discussed everything from how elections are run to strategies to counter false information and bridge the divides that have been pitting neighbor against neighbor in recent years. As Boockvar noted, in order to combat the election disinformation, “what we need to be doing is raising the base level of understanding that Americans have about how elections are run in this country, because the more people know going in, the less susceptible they are to the lies and conspiracy theories.”

They also highlighted the extraordinary dedication and tireless work by election officials at every level to protect every vote cast in our elections. As Wyman eloquently expressed, “the elections are the foundation of our representative democracy and I don’t know an election official who does this work that ever loses sight of that.”
