Hochul signs election rights laws expanding early voting, faces immediate Republican opposition

Athena Strategies President Kathy Boockvar was proud to support and attend New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s voting rights bill signing ceremony this week, enacting a series of election reform measures that will give NY voters more options on how to vote. After the ceremony, Boockvar spoke with NNY360 about this slate of election laws, including allowing all voters to vote early by mail. She said she was proud to see the progress New York has made in the past few years to offer more options to eligible voters, including early voting and now mail-in voting.

“I thought the governor, in her remarks, really captured how important having options for voters is,” she said. “Having experienced in Pennsylvania, when our Governor Wolf signed Act 77 into law on October 31, 2019, I have to tell you in the years following that change in Pennsylvania how many voters of all backgrounds have reached out to thank us for doing that.”
