Thank you to The Washington Center for inviting Athena Strategies President Kathy Boockvar to speak on Election Security as part of its Distinguished Speakers Series! It was wonderful to speak to the room packed full of hundreds of engaged college students and alumni from across the country. It was also inspiring to hear the breadth of thoughtful insights and questions from the next generation!
Kathy shared her visions for pathways students could make their voices heard, how to identify accurate sources of information, ways in which we can advance voting accessibility and security concurrently, models for election reform, how to sign up to be a poll worker, and more. She also stressed the importance of youth voter participation and encouraged students to vote and volunteer as poll workers.
Engaging young voters is crucial for the health of our democracy. Their participation ensures that diverse perspectives are represented and that future generations are invested in the electoral process. By voting and volunteering, young people can make a significant impact, build trust, and help safeguard the integrity of our elections.
