It’s Day 4 of #NationalVoterEducationWeek and we can all make a difference in helping expand understanding of how elections work and the voting process! Thankfully, our election officials and other experts have created some excellent websites and videos to help spread the word.
Athena Strategies’ Democracy Fellows combed websites across the country in search of the most easy-to-understand sources. Our top 5 favorite models of clear and accurate websites and videos from jurisdictions across the country are:
- Colorado has developed a website and video series sharing strategies to stop the spread of disinformation as well as facts about election security and the ballot process: https://www.sos.state.co.us/pubs/elections/ElectionIntegrity/
- Michigan created a fact–checking page that dispels common election myths and includes a section that allows and encourages citizens to report to them misinformation they see online: https://www.michigan.gov/sos/elections/security
- North Carolina has a webpage dedicated to education and information on election security, with videos, fact sheets and more, including explainers on absentee voting, combating misinformation, cybersecurity, and voter intimidation: https://www.ncsbe.gov/election-security
- Wisconsin has created a series of excellent videos explaining Wisconsin’s election processes, including how absentee ballots are counted, why voters should have confidence in election security, and more: https://elections.wi.gov/node/1231.
- Utah has webpages laying out the extensive safeguards followed in all parts of the election processes, as well as details on voting by mail, with videos, links, fact sheets, and other resources: https://vote.utah.gov/safe/ and https://vote.utah.gov/securing-your-mail-ballot/

Please share this information everywhere – on social media and in person! The more we share accurate information – in barbershops and in schools, in workplaces and libraries, and on TikTok and beyond – the more we will enable individuals to become ambassadors in their own communities and share this information with their friends and neighbors.
And if you come across a helpful resource not listed on our website, please share it with us. Together, we can help spread accurate and helpful election information.
